Behind the Lens

Connie Bacon is a visual artist, educator, and real estate photographer based in Bull Valley, Illinois. Drawing on her background in fine arts and graduate study in visual culture at the University of Chicago, she brings an artist’s sensitivity to light, form, and spatial rhythm to her photography. Before turning her focus to real estate imagery, Connie exhibited widely throughout Chicago for over a decade and co-founded Crux Gallery, a contemporary exhibition space known for its experimental approach to installation and fine art.

A former professor of Art & Design at Columbia College Chicago, Connie taught courses in drawing, sculpture, installation, and digital photography, fostering creative growth in students across disciplines. Her commitment to community engagement also extends to years of nonprofit arts facilitation and board service, developing programs that make art accessible and inclusive.

Her work reflects a sustained engagement with architecture, place, and the visual language of space.
